About the Makers:

This piece was created by tonlé, a Cambodian brand that set the standard for zero-waste fashion from 2008 to 2023. Founded on the principle that nothing should go to waste, tonlé transformed textile scraps and remnants from Cambodia's garment industry into thoughtfully designed clothing through innovative production techniques and ethical manufacturing practices. Working with skilled local artisans, tonlé proved that beautiful, functional apparel could be created entirely from materials destined for landfills. Though the brand closed in 2023, this piece represents one of the last remaining items from tonlé's 15-year legacy of zero-waste design and sustainable fashion. tonlé's legacy continues through Conscious Assembly and KaTik.

Process

This piece is created from carefully selected deadstock jersey knit fabrics sourced from local garment manufacturers. Through collaboration between KaTik's expert team and partner designers, these high-quality materials that would have otherwise gone to waste are transformed. Every step of our process focuses on quality, sustainability, and accessibility - from fabric selection to final construction. By choosing this style, you're supporting local makers and designers while helping build a more sustainable fashion industry in Cambodia.

Materials and Care

We believe in creating fashion that lasts. To keep your knit garment looking its best while minimizing environmental impact:

  •  Wash in cold water using gentle cycle
  • Lay flat or hang to dry in shade to maintain shape
  • Steam rather than iron if needed
  • Wash with similar colors
  • Consider spot cleaning when possible
  • Avoid hanging wet knits on sharp hangers

These care practices help extend your garment's life while reducing energy use and protecting our waterways.
